Nerys Dumbell bags £100 in vouchers through North Wales Fire and Rescue Service Facebook cooking competition!

Posted

Nerys was thrilled to be presented with £100 in supermarket vouchers as the lucky winner in our recent 'We Don't Want to come dine with you!" cooking safety campaign.

The campaign was held in supermarkets across North Wales during 2014 and a competition on Facebook supported the campaign. Over a hundred people entered the online quiz, and Nerys was successfully chosen at random in January.

The cooking campaign saw staff visiting supermarkets across North Wales undertaking quizzes with shoppers - rewarding those taking part with a free cooking timer, and has also been promoted on the Service's social media pages with helpful cooking safety tips.

Terry Williams, Head of Fire Safety, said: "This is a great way for the Service to be proactive with the public.

"Cooking is a major cause of accidental fires in the home in North Wales, and time and time again we attend house fires which have started in the kitchen - it is so easy to forget your cooking, especially if you are tired, distracted or have been drinking. But the consequences can be devastating.

Don't forget that North Wales Fire and Rescue Service offers a free home fire safety check, where new smoke alarms will be fitted where needed totally free of charge, please call the 24 hour hotline on 0800 1691243, email cfs@nwales-fireservice.org.uk, visit www.nwales-fireservice.org.uk or text or text 88365, prefixing the message with the word HFSC.
