Join Our Team – Your local fire station needs you!

As the new year begins, there’s no better time to challenge yourself, give back to your community, and discover what you are truly capable of.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s Head of Response is inviting local residents to explore a rewarding career as an On-Call Firefighter.

Mike Owen, who joined the Service as a Firefighter in 1994 , now leads the Response function across the region. Mike shares: “Becoming an on-call firefighter offers a unique opportunity to learn new skills, build connections and make a real difference when it matters most.

“If you’re looking for a meaningful way to start the year, take the first step and find out more. Your community needs people just like you.

“On-Call Firefighters come from all walks of life and often balance other jobs or commitments. While the role can be demanding and unpredictable, it’s also incredibly rewarding.

“We especially need individuals in rural areas, but no matter where you live, you’ll receive first-class training, development opportunities, and the chance to make a real impact in your local community.

“As an On-Call Firefighter, you’ll respond to emergency calls, support local community activities, and provide important prevention advice to help keep everyone safe.

“In return, we offer flexible working arrangements to fit around your study, work, or family commitments — along with outstanding training and development opportunities.

“On-Call Firefighters are a vital part of our Service. The role is challenging, exciting, and deeply fulfilling, bringing the satisfaction and respect that comes from serving and protecting your community.
